Have you heard of the biosphere, it plays an essential role on Earth? There are also the geosphere hydrosphere and the atmosphere. Today I will explain to you about the biosphere.

What is the biosphere?

The biosphere is everything living you, me and other living creatures. Did you know that the biggest living animal on earth is the blue whale and the smallest thing on earth is the Etruscan shrew. This smartest thing on earth is probably humans. Animals are also important because if we didn't have bees we will only last another four years and if other animals die out their predator dies out to which affects the whole food chain. If we didn't have the biosphere nothing living would be here today so the biosphere is important to the earth. Did you that the biosphere is also called the "zone of life" because the biosphere has all living things in it.

The Volcano

 

⭐⭐Story starter!

It was the moment they had been dreading for decades: the volcano had finally erupted. The earth shook, as torrents of golden death cascaded over the helpless landscape. Clouds of ash swarmed over the countryside, enveloping everything in their path. Chaos reigned as the beast that had been sleeping for years, now awoken, smote his fury upon the world.

 In the distance, a flash of silvery lightning licked across the sky: a snake’s forked tongue lashing out in fury to strike its prey. The world was on fire. It was nature's turn to take its revenge.

(⭐here Jonathan has described everything with detail)CRASH! The giant beast tried to eat every last living being in the world. This was revenge. Earthquakes shook the world as houses got destroyed. Deadly molten lava spread rapidly across the city which made it turn into ashes. Many living beings had died and most people rode rocket ships to escape from this horror. This natural disaster was deadly but worse had to come.

The mighty beast absorbed the earth core which increased the destruction of the Earth. The raging beast now tried to devour the whole world. All non-active and active volcanoes suddenly awoke from their deep sleep.

I was so focused looking at the volcano that I didn’t notice lava coming towards me. When I finally noticed I was too late. I  screamed as the deadly lava oozed towards me but no one heard me then everything was blank. I sat in silence for a second. “This couldn’t be heaven,”  I thought silently “Huh, was this a dream?”( ⭐ I like how there is a catch at the end

 DID you know Rotorua is known for its famous spas and geysers and the bad smell! Rotorua also has aquatic volcanoes in its lake 

and Taihape is famous for its big gumboot! Taihape is in the north and smack in the middle. Taihape, home of the great gumboot. Taihape and it also has a gumboot throwing competition. Isn’t that just weird? 

Have you ever heard of lake Taupo? It’s a monstrous lake. By the way, Taupo is located in the middle of the north island. It also is called the belly of the fish. You see… Maui put his foot down and pulled up the north island and got the massive fish. His brothers and sisters ate the fish and Taupo is smack in the middle of the fish’s belly. Taupo’s full name is Taupo-a-Nui-tia

Kaikoura, NZ's biggest fish magnet. Also a convenient place for gold mining. The story of Kaikoura starts here. So Maui was standing in the north and fished out a massive fish. The massive fish is now the south and Maui put up his foot and that made the north island.

THE RACE

 

SPLISH! SPLASH! The crowd roars as the children sank their feet in the squishy mud. They jump and leap to stop others from taking victory from each other. The weather is bad so there was a lot of wind which made the race difficult. The runners nice shoes instantly got cloaked by the mud. Obstacles emerged from the runner’s view. As graceful as a horse they jumped over the weather-beaten hurtles. Faster than a cheetah the children ran with full determination and didn’t stop no matter what!  The finish line was close. The parents kept encouraging everyone. The trees danced gracefully in the background. AND THEN …..

 Once a time …

A lady won a bonus ticket for lotto. She was discouraged because she bought about 20 tickets and none of them won anything. Her last ticket won her a bonus ticket but she knew she couldn’t win. When she got home she screamed:” YES!, I won. She went to catch a bus but then she missed it so she had to wait for the next one and that took about another 1 and a half hours. 

When she finally got on the bus she had to wait for another hour because of traffic. Then when she reached her destination she found out it was closed. She went to go on the bus again. Once the bus started driving a taxi came out of nowhere and crashed into the bus. It happened that the people who were driving the taxi were robbers and the police were chasing them at 200 km per hour so the crash was deadly luckily the lady survived and the bus driver and the robbers got fatally injured. she soon finally reached lotto to claim her ticket but is what happened.

What is a bank

Have you ever wondered what a bank is? A bank is a room/house filed with vaults. Inside one of the vaults is all your money So no one can steal your money. What if I told you that you can earn money just by lending your money to the bank.

What is interest

Pretend you open a bank account for yourself. Once you give your money to the bank you will get interest. Now you may wonder what is interest and how do you get it? Interest is an insane, immense increase in internal dollars. For example, what could happen is that you give the bank $10 and then another person might want to borrow your money but once they have spent it on their needs (or maybe wants). They will have to pay back your $10 money plus a 70 cents (if its the interest rate). This is called interest. Then once they have given your money back to the bank. The bank splits the 70 cents so you will get 20 cents and the bank will get 50 cents. The 20 cents are your interest.

How do banks make money

The bank uses the interest system to gain money. So they can also buy stuff what they want and use it for themselves. Now you might want to ask how can you trust the bank? You should know that the banks don't only work with 10’s and hundreds of dollars they work with millions and also maybe even billions of dollars. So there is no point in stealing or scamming your money. Banks are highly protected and also have a lot of security so your money won’t be stolen (, maybe sometimes).

What banks can store

Banks have been around since bartering. Banks bring benefits because of billions of bucks. Some banks can also store other precious things E.g. necklace, rings and other precious stones.

Why we should be able to play video games at school

 Do you like video games? I do! Do you get bored at lunch, I do. It is very dumb yet, what if we had video games? Video games are very satisfying. Just imagine all the possibilities we would have if we had video games. 

 First of all, People who played action games like Call of Duty showed the capacity to learn more than those who played non-action games. Isn’t that amazing! Fortunately, in new studies, it has also shown that playing video games increases your IQ. The study also says playing games for as little as 30 minutes a day, can improve your life. Research has shown that video games can improve your brain, body, health and information organization. 

My second point is that video games are a popular hobby in the world. DID you know that more than 150 million Americans play video games? That’s about 46 times of the population for New Zealand! Games like Fortnite can help to make strategies and cooperation to win.

There are other educational games like sumdog, Prodigy and scratch. For example, Sumdog can improve about all curriculums and prodigy can improve your maths. Scratch has operators that need a lot of calculations to make something and scratch can also give you better imagination.

If you still don’t agree with me then, listen to this, you do know Minecraft, right? It is an enjoyable game yet, did you know that in new studies Minecraft can help you be more creative, problem-solving and collaboration. For example, you can go into creative mode and build anything you want. I have made a google form and the result was, that conclusion that 60% of the people that did the quiz agreed with me.

In conclusion, I hope I convinced you so, in the future we will be able to play and bring video games to school.

The day I traded my sister for a nerf gun

WALT Write an Introduction that hooks the audience I used dialogue for my writing “You will not trade your dad,” said my mum angrily “I promise,” I said “Good now go,” said my mum demanded impatiently I quietly thought to myself “I wasn’t going to trade my dad but she didn’t say anything about trading my sister”... “I'm going to get something, stay here and don’t trade your dad,” my mom told me seriously. When she left, Nathan came over to the back yard and showed me his new nerf gun. It was the one I wanted so I asked him if he wanted any of my toys for the gun. He took one look at my toys and surprisingly took another look at my dad. Finally, he said “ I don’t want your toys and I don’t want your dad. When I heard this I was desperate but suddenly I had a brilliant idea. “Take my sister then,” I said and pointed at her. “Can she do maths,'' asked Nathan with an evil grin? “Yes yes yes” I replied desperately “Ok, I’ll do a trade,” said Nathan then he left with my sister When mom came back I asked her if we can get some nerf darts and she replied “if we really need them” So I showed her my nerf gun. “Where did you get this from,” she said suspiciously “ nowhere,” I said unconvincingly. “Where your sister you didn’t do it did you,” said mom in a VERY suspicious tone Since my cover was blown, I decided to tell her the truth. When I was done talking, she looked at me like she was going to explode. She gave me my nerf gun and told me to get my sister back. I ran to Nathan's house. I ran so fast I think I could have gotten a gold medal in the Olympics for running at THAT speed. When I got there I was exhausted. Nathan came to the door and I told him I wanted my sister back. I got my sister and we ran home again. My mom made me promise not to trade my dad and my sister but she didn’t say anything about herself. hehehe... To be continued
